The population numbers are in and they are impressive and, combined with a more fickle workforce, start to tell the story of rising shortages across the economy. New Brunswick’s population increased by a record 21,663 between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022 (a 2.7% growth rate). That is a record - by a wide margin. Look at the chart. Since 2016, New Brunswick’s population has increased by 53,000. I think back to my time in government when I was told to expect very little population growth for years to come. Ooops.
