Could it be that PEI should more be compared to a city. The gdp per capita for greater Moncton is 55k and the population is 130k. They have provincial costs but municipal size (population wise) so the whole rural/urban mix is interesting. Or maybe it is more like comparing to northern NB from land size, population and rural urban mix. I guess does size matter?

I have been there a few times this year for golf and visiting friends and family with cottages. There is a tonne of infrastructure growth from roadway prospective. And more backroads to everywhere.

What would attracting many more wealthy full time or seasonal residents as an industry (a different take on cottage industry) do to the numbers?

Shocked to see Telecom at the top. There is no telecom "industry" there. Except for a couple of micro operators, the three major telecoms serving the island are based off-island, with combined assets perhaps equivalent to those of the greater Moncton area in scope, and a handful of field technicians. I guess this is more of a sign of how small the economy is and maybe that islanders are paying too much for telecom services :-)
